Celebrating Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day from Spilman Dentistry! Dr. Spilman is both a son and a proud father. Today he shares with his patients what fatherhood means to him.

You might not have known, but Dr. Spilman’s father practiced dentistry for 40 years which encouraged Dr. Spilman to follow in his footsteps. Additionally, there is another Spilman trailing down that same path. Dr. Spilman’s son is currently halfway through dental school. Having three generations in the same profession is a true honor and testament to the dental profession! He also says that he was lucky enough to inherit his father’s ability to treat all his patients with respect. A great and essential trait to have in any healthcare profession!

This year is also extra special because Dr. Spilman’s father, who lives in Indiana, will celebrate his 90th birthday! Something Dr. Spilman has loved about his own father is the amount of time and attention he dedicated to family. With five children, his father never played favorites! Growing up Dr. Spilman’s dad used to catch for him when he was warming-up for baseball games.

To celebrate Father’s Day, Dr. Spilman and his family will take their boat out and have lunch together, then come home for a ZOOM meeting with the man who started the Spilman Dentistry legacy.

For Dr. Spilman, being a good dad means setting an example every day to his two children, Clayton and Emma, on how to treat a beloved spouse, how to be treated by a spouse and how to raise good children. A good father figure isn’t always extremely vocal, but his actions don’t go unnoticed. However, Dr. Spilman also knows that this task would be overwhelming if it weren’t for his wonderful partner in life, his wife!
The best advice Dr. Spilman has received from his dad is to ride out the tough times with your spouse and stay together in your marriage. With open communication, comprises, and love marriage can withstand anything. Dr. Spilman’s parents were married for 65 years.

On behalf of Spilman Dentistry, we want to thank all of the fathers out there for everything you do for your children!
